Baltimore FFs Play Vital Roles for Ravens

Nov. 27, 2023
Local firefighters volunteered to help when the Ravens arrived in 1996 without full-time workers.

When the Baltimore Ravens arrived in the city in 1996, the team could not afford full time employees.

So Baltimore firefighters volunteered to help, a tradition that continues.

Firefighters say just as on the fire scene, it's a team effort.

On their days off from the fire department, firefighters head to the stadium to do a number of duties including laundry which they say is no easy task due to grass and blood stains, Today reported.

Another important chore is cleaning the footballs. And, getting all of the dirt from the pigskin is essential. Kicker Justin Tucker depends on it.

Never in their wildest dreams did they believe the relationship would continue and strenghen.

Now, 26 firefighters are involved with helping the home team.
